ARSENIC AND OLD LACE at Vagabond Players

ARSENIC AND OLD LACE at Vagabond Players

Murder, mayhem, and impeccable farce take center stage as Vagabond Players brings Joseph Kesselring’s classic ARSENIC AND OLD LACE to the stage Feb. 20 through March 15, 2026. Directed by Katie Sheldon in her Vagabond Players directorial debut, the production marks the third offering of the company’s milestone 110th season. Meet Aunt Abby and Aunt Martha Brewster—two of the sweetest homicidal maniacs you’ll ever encounter. Only please don’t let them talk you into a glass of their homemade elderberry wine, because you probably won’t live to regret it! As the corpses begin to pile up, so does nephew Mortimer Brewster’s panic—not just in trying to fend off the police, but also his prodigal brother, Jonathan, a murderous gangster with a scary new face and a body count that rivals his aunts’. It may not seem hilarious that a dozen men succumb to one of the most unlikely murder plots ever perpetrated in Brooklyn, N.Y., but ARSENIC AND OLD LACE remains one of American theatre’s most enduring comedies, which exposes the insanity and dark secrets that lie hidden beneath the veneer of an ordinary, folksy all-American family.

Greg Hatza ORGANization

Greg Hatza ORGANization

Greg Hatza, organ Peter Fraize, saxophone Brian Kooken, guitar Robert Shahid, drums In 1994, Greg met Joey DeFranscesco who told him the Hammond B-3 was enjoying a popular renaissance. He formed the Greg Hatza ORGANization and has been performing and recording on the instrument non-stop since that time. With the trend towards more advanced electronic keyboard and rhythms now, Greg adapted to the trend, switching from the Hammond B-3 to the electric keyboard and piano. In the late sixties, Baltimore was still an organ town and had its share of great players. It was here that Greg really got a chance to hone his jazz organ skills by playing with the best musicians in town. Lenny’s club was a great stopping point for national jazz artists who came to Baltimore to perform. He also met and got to play in jam sessions with such personalities as Kenny Burrell, Groove Holmes, Damita Joe, Philly Joe Jones, Roland Kirk, Les McCann, James Moody, and Sonny Stitt.

Always wanted to try sailing? This is your chance. Join the Downtown Sailing Center for a 3-hour Taste of Sailing experience on Baltimore’s beautiful waterfront. Designed for complete beginners, this hands-on course teaches the basics of steering (helming), trimming sails, and understanding essential sailing terms — all while you’re out on the water. With a maximum of four students per boat, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take the tiller, handle the sails, and feel what it’s like to harness the wind. Prefer to relax for a few minutes and take in the skyline? That’s welcome too. There’s nothing quite like sailing to build confidence, problem-solving skills, and a sense of independence — and it’s simply a joyful way to spend an afternoon or evening. No experience required. Open to all. We are happy to provide disability accommodations; please contact us in advance to discuss your needs.
