Harbor Splash
is back in 2026

Yes, we jumped in the harbor. Multiple times. And we’ll do it again-you should join us!

Rather than a single event, this year’s Harbor Splash will take place as a series of pop-up swims at Bond Street Wharf in Fells Point. Each event will allow a limited number of participants to safely swim in the Harbor under controlled conditions.

These events are weather dependent and by registration only. We will announce each pop up swim the week of the event. To be notified first when a swim is announced, be sure to join our Harbor Splash mailing list.

For more than a decade, Waterfront Partnership worked alongside a core group of non-profits, educational institutions, government officials, and business leaders and citizen volunteers to clean up the Baltimore Harbor and reach a point where we could swim.

Key milestones include:

  • Installation of four iconic Trash Wheels

  • More than $1 billion in sewer infrastructure improvements

  • A 76% reduction in sanitary sewer overflows

  • More than 5.2 million pounds of trash removed from city waterways.

Our inaugural Harbor Splash in 2024 signified an incredible moment for the Baltimore Harbor. We celebrated over a decade of progress improving the health of the harbor and committed to continuing the work.

Watch the documentary Baltimore’s Healthy Harbor Initiative to see the story of how we got to Harbor Splash.

Together, we can make this swimmable every day.

“It was an important step, like I said, when I was a kid, I’d never imagine we’d be at a point where we can do this. Its a good day, and its a perfect day to do it!

If we continue doing what we have to at city government and clean up our water system, but also the litter, the trash, if everyone is more responsible. This is our responsibility collectively, and so everyone who wants the water to be cleaner make sure their holding their neighbors accountable, make sure their thinking about the wastes and resources, we can do this together!”

-Mayor Brandon Scott

Collective Action Cleaned This Harbor

For more than a decade, the Healthy Harbor Initiative has been championing the goal of a swimmable, fishable Baltimore Harbor in collaboration with a core group of non-profits, educational institutions, government officials, and business leaders and citizen volunteers.
