Welcome to Fells Point! A Literary Hub Past & Present

Fells Point, founded in 1726, is a lively waterfront neighborhood full of bars, restaurants and shops - the perfect place to host YOUR AWP event or reading!

Literary legacy lingers in Fells Point, and history and inspiration fill the neighborhood in equal measure. The Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park museum offers a chance to learn about abolitionist and writer Frederick Douglass; walk from there to Fells Point’s Greedy Reads, a community-minded bookstore where you’ll find local history and authors among the stacks.

Walk amongst the waterfront bars where Edgar Allen Poe famously spent time and let your creativity run wild through the cobblestoned streets. With an eclectic, colorful neighborhood bustling outside the cafe window and the waterfront promenade cutting through it, Fells Point is a writer’s dream.
