The Capsule: A BXB Homecoming Recap
In the spirit of homecoming season, Create Baltimore- a civic storytelling agency for the city of Baltimore CharmTV- produced a show-stopping lineup of artists and creators to tap into Harborplace's nostalgia for this season’s final Baltimore-by-Baltimore festival.
The Big Question
What do you think of when you think of Baltimore?
For us, it’s simple: home. It’s where talent, love, and culture all reside. It’s where we come together to create magic on the stage, build community, and support one another. That is why we chose Homecoming as the theme to celebrate 5 years of Baltimore by Baltimore.
Homecoming is the literal and symbolic tradition of welcoming alumni back to "come home" to their former school or community. Baltimore is a city deeply rooted in traditions and school spirit. To celebrate 5 years, we wanted to bring the spirit of homecoming to the harbor and tap into the nostalgia that time of year brings. The Inner Harbor has long been a place for Baltimoreans and visitors alike to gather. A central location for the entire city to cross paths. A place you went when you both had something to do and also when you had nothing to do…kind of like home. As we prepare for a portion of the Harbor to shut down and undergo renovations, we welcome the city home.
A Sweet Surprise
To seal the deal on an already sweet day, a few members of The Fudgery put on a surprise flash mob performance. The group sang a rendition of the hit “My Girl” by The Temptations, changing the lyrics to reflect the establishment's rich history. It doesn’t get more Baltimore than that!
Telling the story of 5 Years of Baltimore by Baltimore
To commemorate five years of Baltimore by Baltimore, we worked alongside UMBC and welcomed past producers of Baltimore by Baltimore to share their experiences with the festival and its impact on the Baltimore community.
