Music Under the Dome: 90s Summer Mixtape
Kick off your summer cruising around the cosmos, listening to your favorite summertime jams from the 90s! Music Under the Dome is an immersive planetarium show featuring in-house curated imagery set to a 45-minute music playlist. Each show is uniquely developed to complement the soundtrack and is only available at the Maryland Science Center. Check in for the show early and enjoy a complementary happy hour, complete with adult beverages, special science demonstrations, and access to our space exhibits.

Super Science Sleepover: Dinosaur Adventure
Calling all junior paleontologists! Spend an unforgettable night at the Maryland Science Center digging into dinos. Examine clues from our planet's prehistoric past and see if you can piece together enough evidence to identify a mystery dinosaur. Challenge yourself to a raptor approved tippy tower building game. Roam the exhibit halls with your herd, and more! This event is intended for families with children ages 5+. All children must have a paid adult in their party.
Superhero Science
Grab your cape and pop on your super suit—Saturday, June 8 is sure to be an action-packed day at the Maryland Science Center. Embrace your inner superhero, discover the science behind some of your favorite comic book heroes’ exciting powers, and tackle a few challenges that will put your powers to the test. Activities will take place from noon – 4:00pm and are free with paid admission or membership.
47th Annual Solstice Fundraiser Gala
Celebrate the Maryland Science Center’s mission at the 47th annual Solstice fundraiser gala! Funds raised by Solstice supports free admission for all Maryland school children and their teachers who visit as part of a field trip during the upcoming school year. Solstice also funds our outreach programs—Traveling Science Program, Ready Set Go Science, and Family Science and Family Engineering Nights.

Bubble Days
The best bubble party of the summer is back at MSC on Saturday and Sunday, July 13-14. Get ready for two days that will be bursting with fun! See the world-renowned bubble artist Casey Carle in his suds-tacular show, Bubblemania. Create your own bubble solution and test your bubble making skills to make bubble towers, double bubbles, and fizzy foamies. Race a bubble through the ultimate obstacle course, and more!
Welcome to the Garden
Dig into a gardening adventure! Journey into the garden to explore plant anatomy, adaptations, and chemical reactions in this 3-hour workshop designed for ages 7-10. Create your own mini-garden from up-cycled materials, investigate the form and function of plants through an instructor-led plant dissection, and experiment with chromatography to reveal the colorful pigments that leaves have hidden inside. This workshop is led by instructors from Seedling— a non-profit working to improve health outcomes in Baltimore youth through food equity education. 6th Annual Crabs & Crushes Celebration
We’re gearing up for a Maryland crab-tastic feast on the Phillips Crab Deck! This sixth-annual Crabs and Crushes Celebration will take place on Sunday, May 5th from 12 to 3 pm.
2024 IMET Open House
The Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET) opens its doors for a free Open House on Saturday, May 4, 1-4 p.m. Enjoy hands-on science activities for kids of all ages, meet our scientists, and discover important marine research happening throughout the harbor and the Chesapeake Bay!
Jedi Academy at Maryland Science Center
Calling all young Padawans and wise Jedi Masters—spend the afternoon training in the Maryland Science Center’s Jedi Academy! Use the Force to explore physics. Practice your Jedi mind tricks with optical illusions. Give Chewie a hand with a few Wookie challenges. Travel to the Forest Moon of Endor to help the Ewoks design a new treetop village, and more. All activities are included with paid admission or membership.
Kinetic Sculpture Race
The Baltimore Kinetic Sculpture Race returns Saturday, May 4. Opening ceremonies at AVAM start at 9:30 a.m., the race begins at 10 a.m. and most teams are likely to cross the finish line 3:15–4:30 p.m. Check out the 2023 Spectator’s Guide for information on how to enjoy the race from the sidelines.
RED BULL DANCE YOUR STYLE BALTIMORE CITY QUALIFIER
On April 27th, the world’s premier one-vs.-one dance competition returns to Baltimore! Dancers from across the U.S. will face off and compete to win the crowd's hearts. The winners of this city qualifier will advance to the Regional Qualifier in Boston.
Asia in a Bite Food Festival
Happening every last Saturday from April to September, Asia in a Bite Food Fest is excited to bring the most authentic Asian cuisine to the community of Baltimore!
African American Children's Book Festival
Join the Reginald F. Lewis Museum for the return of our family friendly African American Children’s Book Fair Festival Presented by BGE, An Exelon Company. Children and families can enjoy a fun-filled day exploring kids’ literature about African Americans while meeting some of your favorite children’s authors and illustrators in our Book Village. Enjoy author readings, illustration workshops, craft activities, an Urban Beekeeping Workshop with John Newman Honeybee Company and dance performances with TikTok dancers, @ayo_shag Shag and @tsu_flash Flash. Museum visitors can receive a free book with a book purchase in the Book Village. Free books are on a limited supply basis.
Grown Up Field Trip: Jurassic Party
Welcome to...dramatic pause... Jurassic Party
Hang onto your butts, this is going to be the best party of the geologic era! Roam the exhibit halls with your herd and dig into some dinosaur themed games and science challenges at our Jurassic Park themed Grown Up Field Trip. Plus, our friends from Peabody Heights Brewery will be on-site with some of their favorite brews and B'more Greek Grill will be serving up delicious pita wraps, rice bowls, and salads.
Mr. Trash Wheel’s 10th Anniversary: A Night at the Trashseum
Celebrate 10 years of Mr. Trash Wheel with Waterfront Partnership at a one-of-a-kind, not to be missed event! This family-friendly event will celebrate Earth Day and Mr. Trash Wheel’s birthday with an evening of art, artifacts and trashion with activities including entry to the Trashseum, a living litter sculpture garden by Fluid Movement, a DIY "trashion” crafting station, and more!
Jake's Day at Rash Field
Join us for our annual community skate event at Jake's Skate Park in Rash Field! This free event is a chance for kids under 12 to learn to skate in a fun, supportive environment. Local legend and pro skater Joey Jett, along with shredders from the Skatepark of Baltimore, will be assisting young skaters to get on board. Plus, enjoy free skate gear giveways, DJ Remedy spinning a mix of tunes for all ages, and free ice cream from Miss Twist!
Red Shoe Shuffle 2024 5K Run & Walk
The Happiest Morning in Maryland is right around the corner! Lace up your running shoes for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maryland’s 13th Annual Red Shoe Shuffle 5K Run & Walk on Sunday, April 14, 2024, beginning at 8:30 am. Each year, thousands of Shufflers line up their red, white, and striped socks to show our RMH families that they have the support of our incredible community as they fight the battle of their lives.

The Center's Opening Day Celebration
The Center is thrilled to be back for baseball season and to host our first-ever Opening Day Celebration event! As the Orioles prepare to take on the Los Angeles Angels, we’ll be getting into the spirit with music, refreshments, games and giveaways! This event is open to the public and family-friendly and a great way for you to celebrate the Orioles and the upcoming season all while fostering connections. Spring Break Skate
From Friday, March 22 – Saturday, March 30, 2024, enjoy fun for the whole family during Spring Break Skate — Downtown Baltimore’s pop-up roller rink, located in Hopkins Plaza (next to CFG Bank Arena). Grab the little ones and skate the afternoon away, or gather a group of your besties and skate into the evening. Good tunes will be plentiful, and food and beverages will also be available for purchase.
Sensory Friendly Morning at Port Discovery
The Museum strives to be an inclusive and accessible space that celebrates neurodiversity and welcomes people of all needs and abilities. We currently offer monthly Sensory Friendly Mornings, open to all guests and members, and weekly Access & Inclusion Afternoons open to groups serving children and families with disabilities, on the autism spectrum, and/or sensory processing disorders. Pre-registration is required.

B.A.P. Union in Baltimore- Arrival Ceremony
The port of Baltimore will welcome the Peruvian Navy's BAP Unión, the most significant and fastest sailing ship in Latin America, for the first time. This visit will lively celebrate Peruvian culture and traditions, with Unión carrying the essence of Peru.
