Brandon Woody's UPENDO at Keystone Korner
Brandon Woody, trumpet Troy Long, piano Michael Saunders, bass Quincy Phillips, drums Brandon Woody is a Baltimore-born, Bach-endorsed trumpeter, composer, and bandleader whose music flows from the rich lineage of Black music, including jazz, gospel, improvisation, and beyond, to explore themes of love, resilience, and community. Hailed by The New York Times and Los Angeles Times as a rising force in contemporary jazz, Woody signed with the legendary Blue Note Records in November 2024 and released his debut album, "For The Love Of It All", in May 2025. Featuring his longtime band Upendo, the album showcases Woody’s ability to craft music that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Langston Hughes II & His Quartet
Experience an unforgettable evening of modern jazz with saxophonist Langston Hughes II and his Quartet. Rooted in gospel and shaped by the rich traditions of jazz, Langston’s music is a soulful, high-energy journey through sound, storytelling, and spirit. With a style that is both deeply expressive and rhythmically driven, the quartet delivers performances filled with passion, beauty, and joy. Langston Hughes II is an accomplished saxophonist, woodwind doubler, composer, and educator, rapidly emerging as one of the most exciting young voices in jazz today. Langston is also an in-demand woodwind performer on and off Broadway, with recent credits including A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical and Just in Time: The Bobby Darin Story.
Baltimore School for the Arts Jazz Ensembles
The Baltimore School for the Arts Jazz Ensemble and Big Band perform the music of Duke Ellington, Sammy Nestico, Lakecia Benjamin, Brandon Woody, Maceo Parker, Cesar Orozco and more! The band will play one set of small group arrangements with a brief intermission, followed by a set of 3 big band tunes. BSA is recognized as one of the top five public performing arts high schools in the country and as one of the best high schools in America for its rigorous college preparatory program. $10 student tickets available at the door!
