Beyond the Mat with Maya Eberhart | Waterfront Wellness
“Everyone starts somewhere, and you are never alone in the experience. My goal is to create a welcoming and supportive environment where people feel comfortable, encouraged, and cared for every step of the way.”
Sunday morning Vinyasa Yoga | Waterfront Wellness 2026
“Yoga is for all.” That is a foundational belief for Maya Eberhart, founder of Rising Vibes Yoga and instructor for Waterfront Wellness. Maya’s call to yoga was answered during the COVID-19 pandemic when she felt inspired to deepen her own health and healing journey. She credits taking the leap of faith to practice yoga as the inspiration behind her desire to cultivate community. “Through yoga, I found grounding, clarity, and connection during such an uncertain time, and I made a promise to myself that I would bring yoga everywhere I went — into schools, churches, parks, community spaces, and beyond. What started as a personal mission quickly became a passion for creating accessible wellness experiences for all communities.” What started as an interest in reconnecting with herself during the pandemic blossomed into a full-blown community seeking to help others reconnect with themselves in a welcoming environment.
The true motivation for Maya in teaching and showing up for this newfound community is that each person is guaranteed to leave feeling better than they arrived. “I love meeting new people and creating spaces where they can reconnect with themselves, even if only for an hour. Many students arrive carrying stress, tension, or physical discomfort, and seeing them leave class feeling lighter, more relaxed, and relieved is incredibly rewarding.” The practice of yoga extends beyond the mat, out of the studio, and can be carried into everyday life. For some, it can completely change the way that they think of their lives for the better. Maya’s intention for her classes is to help each yogi find their own slice of peace that they can take with them once class has ended.
Gathering under the shade station in Rash Field Park, Maya welcomed yogis of all levels through a gentle Sunday morning flow for Waterfront Wellness. This summer was her first time teaching the Waterfront Wellness series, and it proved to be a unique opportunity for Maya to witness firsthand the warmth and charm of Baltimore. When recounting the opportunity, Maya said, “Teaching with Waterfront Wellness has been especially meaningful because it was my first outdoor teaching opportunity based in Baltimore. As a New York native, it gave me the chance to experience the warmth, openness, and sense of community that Baltimore has to offer.”This new experience offered Maya a front row seat to the true charm of “Charm City”.
Maya believes that movement, fitness, and mindfulness impact people beyond the physical sense. The practice transcends the conclusion of the workout; it can be integrated into emotional connection. Maya said, “Movement and mindfulness go far beyond physical wellness — they create connection, community, and emotional healing. These practices remind us that we are not alone and that we all share similar experiences, challenges, and emotions. Wellness spaces can become places of support, encouragement, and unity where people feel seen, empowered, and connected to something greater than themselves.” With Rising Vibes Yoga, Maya aspires to guide each participant on their own sacred journey of connecting or reconnecting with their inner self while also fostering community in a safe space. After a successful first teaching season of Waterfront Wellness, Maya is grateful for the opportunity and eager to teach within the series in the future.
