Baltimore City Veterans Day Parade will honor our nation’s heroes. Parade Grand Marshal is Adjutant General Janeen Birckhead, the leader of Maryland’s military and the only African-American woman leading a state military in the nation. The 1-mile parade travels south on Charles St to Baltimore St. to Gay St. to War Memorial Plaza. A wreath laying at the Black Soldiers Memorial immediately after the parade. Free parking at the Lexington St. Parking Garage, 510 E. Lexington St. Parade is rain or shine.

With over 20 years of monumental lantern-making and spectacle-creating under their belts, the diverse communities of Baltimore come together each year to create The Great Baltimore Lantern Parade and Festival in Patterson Park!

The day begins with a family festival, featuring an adorable kids costume contest, lantern making, pop-up performances, an arts & crafts market, and more. Grab a picnic blanket for your family and friends and enjoy an array of food and treats from local food trucks and enjoy the afternoon.

Once the sun sets, the magic begins. Glowing floats and lanterns parade through the night surrounded by bright and beautiful music. Everyone is welcome to grab a lantern and march with thousands of neighbors, artists, musicians, and performers. Many more line the parade route to watch the delightful Great Baltimore Lantern Parade wind through the night!

Join us for a special day of cleaning litter on both land and water! We are partnering with Blue Water Baltimore and Waterfront Partnership for a “Canoe & Scoop” in Middle Branch Park! We are striving to have a big impact on this park, so we there will be two ways to participate!

Attendees will have the option to help clean litter on foot, or along the shoreline in vessels provided by Baltimore Recreation and Parks. There will be gloves and trash-grabbers available for use, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. Attendees are also welcome to bring and launch their own canoe, kayak, or standup paddleboard!

The Patapsco River serves an important function as one of the main tributaries to the Harbor of Baltimore, as well as being the central landmark to the first state park in Maryland, Patapsco Valley State Park. This event is a unique opportunity to protect and enjoy, and learn more about one of Baltimore’s waterways. We hope you can join us!
