Past Construction Updates
T-minus one month until the opening of Rash Field Park Phase II, and we can’t wait to show off all the work we did the past year and a half!
Throughout the month of August our partners at Plano Coudon and Mahan Rykeil will be putting the finishing touches on park to get it ready for all the fun events and activities we have planned later this year! The new expansion of the park will bring lots of new recreation spaces, including brand-new pickleball courts and volleyball courts, lush gardens, and sprawling open green spaces for the whole community to relax and play.
Phase 2 is really beginning to look like a complete park!
We had another great month of construction in May, and as a result we have seen a lot of tangible progress that has made the vision for this park come to life. Tons of plantings have been planted, boulders have been placed, and many more walking paths have been poured. There is still lots more to do in the next two months before Phase 2 opens to the public, but the finish line is almost in sight.
Here’s a look at the dramatic change in the look of the park in just 1 month!
Phase 2 is really starting to look like a park rather than a construction site. Within one month, there has been dramatic changes in the look of the park including new walking paths, seating, and even some trees!
As the project continues to move ahead you can expect to see a lot of changes in the recreation and garden zones throughout the month of May. All these additions will really make the vision for the park come to life over the next few months.
Spring has officially sprung in Baltimore, and that means we are getting closer to the opening of Rash Field Park Phase 2! Throughout March there has been a lot of visible work above ground, and the park is beginning to take shape. With the warm weather here to stay, we are excited to see more above ground infrastructure and landscaping work completed in preparation for the park opening late this summer.
March is here, and despite the chilly air and this week’s flurry, spring is on its way. This past month was a challenging month for construction at Rash Field due to snowy conditions and low temperatures. Throughout February the team has almost completely finished all underground work, as well as site grading on the west end. We are looking forward to some warmer, drier days to start getting concrete poured, and to see the park really begin to take shape.
The first month of 2026 has come and gone, and we are one step closer to the grand opening of Phase 2! Throughout the first few weeks of January we were able to make progress in the park, but work was stopped during the last week of January because of the major snowstorm that hit Baltimore City. As the team works to dig out the snow, we are hoping for warmer weather ahead so that we can get back to moving dirt, mixing mortar and pouring concrete.
As we enter the winter season we continue to move right along with Phase 2 of Rash Field, with work primarily remaining underground. But, you can start to notice the park begin to take shape, with a lot of the primary grading nearing completion. During the last month we have removed and stored Promenade bricks for future use, installed electrical conduits and main waterlines, and have begun installing the underdrainage of the main open field.

It’s officially Fall, which means cooler weather, Daylight Savings time, and more progress on Rash Field Park Phase 2. Throughout October the Plano Coudon team continued to stay right on schedule with all the work that has to be done underground to prep for above-ground work.
It may not look like a lot has changed in the past month, but below ground a lot of work has been completed! Through September, the Plano-Coudon team has continued to make headway on important underground infrastructure that will lay the groundwork for the upcoming above-ground progress.
Last month we explored natural dyeing techniques at our My Indigo World workshop with local multi-disciplinary artist Rosa Chang! We enjoyed a fun-filled morning of designing, dipping, and drying our own unique works of textile art in at Rash Field Park.
Phase II is well underway! Throughout August the Plano-Coudon team has continued to make a lot of progress both above and below ground in preparation for the next steps. This month the Phase II site has continued to be leveled and underground infrastructure has begun. We are pleased to announce that we are ahead of schedule going into the fall!
We’ve been busy this month! Throughout the month of July there has been a lot of visible progress made on Phase 2, including a lot of demolition of the existing infrastructure and the site leveling in preparation for the coming months. We’re also excited to announce the start of construction on OneDo Coffee Roasters space in the BGE Pavilion. We’ve got big plans for the months ahead, and are excited to see more progress on Phase 2!
We had so much fun kicking off the Wildlife Gardening season last month with a fun-filled morning of bird watching, learning about bird-friendly plants, and even a visit from Uncle Steve the turkey! Led by local wildlife experts Sharon Dorsey, Eric Fishel, and our Waterfront Partnership team, this hands-on workshop was a fun, engaging way to connect the community to the native wildlife that is all around us on the waterfront.
Phase II has officially begun at Rash Field Park! Last month we began laying the groundwork for the upcoming demolition of the hardscape throughout the park, which will be the first noticeable signs of progress in these early stages. We’re excited to see this site begin to transform over the next year!
We’re excited to announce that construction has started on Phase II of Rash Field Park! The next phase of Rash Field Park will bring more recreational and green space to the Inner Harbor, with the addition of native gardens, beach volleyball and pickle ball courts, and a sprawling lawn. Follow along as we document the park's transformation from beginning to end.
On April 10, 2025 we celebrated the official groundbreaking of Phase II of Rash Field Park with our entire community! We are so happy to move forward with this project as Waterfront Partnership continues to celebrate our 20th anniversary year in 2025, and look forward to all the activations we'll be able to bring to the Inner Harbor with the park's new features.
It was a perfect Saturday for shredding at the skatepark! This past weekend we hosted our annual Jake’s Day skating event at Jake’s Skate Park. Over 150 kids came to learn to skate from the best in Baltimore. The skaters and their families also enjoyed tasty treats, tunes, and giveaways all morning long.
